Relaxation is a learned skill. And, today, with stress so much a part of our society and our children’s lives, it is a greatly needed skill!
And, of course, there’s lots of research showing that stress is detrimental to learning. So relaxation techniques can also improve a child’s education.
In this video, I’ll offer ideas for the first component of nap or rest time: transitioning from activity to inactivity as the children move to their mats or cots. It’s unrealistic to expect them to be able to switch gears instantly, so these kinds of activities can help them prepare to rest.
